Mailander Residence, Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey

Situated in the Highlands, the highest point of land along the East Coast between Maine and Florida, this house has dramatic views overlooking Sandy Hook, the Atlantic Ocean and Downtown Manhattan. The home is designed in the Arts and Crafts Style, compatible with its neighbors and befitting the heavily treed, hilly terrain on which it is located. Cedar shakes and trim assure low maintenance for years to come. As in many of our houses, Rudolph Architects performed full interior design services, including the selection of all finishes, as well as, the design of all built-ins and furnishings:  the fireplace was custom designed and fabricated in France; floors are American Cherry, tiles and stonework imported from Italy, South America, and Africa.  All interior doors and trim were custom designed and fabricated of maple.
