Carton Residence, Middletown, New Jersey

This magnificent, landmark structure graces the Navesink River, in the Hartshorne Woods section of Middletown. The building was constructed in many phases; the most important being in the mid-eighteen hundreds, when it was expanded to its present size, and in 1907 when the grand porch was added. Over the course of the last century, portions of the home, including the porch, had fallen into varying degrees of disrepair.  Rudolph Architects was commissioned to reconstruct the porch; restoring elements that could be saved and replicating those that could not. This project received the Monmouth County (NJ) Historical Society’s Preservation Award.
